Raw Food Detox Diet
Detox, or detoxification of the body is a common practice many people use in order to rid the body of toxic substances or lose some weight quickly. There are many different ways and many different diets to detox the body. Some of these are the dieuretic diet, the fat flush diet, an all liquid diet, liver cleansing diet and the raw food diet. Certain detox diets may be better for certain people, so it is important to look at each and decide which one would fit your day to day lifestyle the best. The detox diet that I would like to talk about here is the raw food detox diet, also sometimes called foodism. This detox diet is generally made up of fruits, vegetables, nuts, seeds, grains, dried fruits, herbs and spices that are all eaten raw.
The first thing you will want to do is prepare for the detox. The safest way to do so is to slowly remove the foods that are not allowed during the detox from your day to day diet for a week before you start the full on detox. This means that the first day of preparation you will replace one or two things that you regularly eat during the day with something that is a fruit, vegetable or other food allowed by the detox. By the seventh day, you will have replaced pretty much everything in your regular diet with someone that is allowed in the detox diet. The other thing that you will need to do to prepare is create a menu plan for your detox diet. You will want to make your menu as appetizing as possible for yourself, but don’t expect it to be as good as friend chicken or extra cheesy lasagna. With a little creativity and searching for recipes you can however find some very tasty meals.
Once you have created your menu plan, create a grocery list and go shopping the day before you start the detox. You are now ready to begin your raw food detox diet.
Generally the first couple days of any detox are the hardest days, so it is important to keep any temptations out of sight and as out of mind as possible. It may take a lot of will power but you will find as you are on the detox for longer that it will become easier, and believe me, when you start seeing those results of how much better you feel or how much weight you have lost, you will want to keep the detox going strong.
With the raw food diet it may be a little costly to purchase all of the fruits and vegetables that you will need, but it is important not to skimp or cheat. Some great meals you can make are fresh fruit salads, mixed salads with other various vegetables such as tomatoes, onions, parsley and other dressings, raw mixed vegetable soup, avocado and even raspberry and banana sorbet. You should be able to find these special raw diet recipes as well as many others with just a little searching online. The important thing with a raw food detox diet is that you make a plan and stick with it.

If you’ve been on the hunt for a new diet plan to help you lose weight, you may have stumbled upon the raw food weight loss program that has recently been gaining in popularity. This diet has led to some amazing and drastic results in some of its adherents. In fact, the whole concept of eating raw foods has moved past being a diet and into an entire movement, known as “rawism.” You may be wondering exactly how this diet works, and why it is so effective.
Those who support the raw food weight loss idea claim that raw foods offer a number of benefits both to personal health and for weight loss. For one, raw foods contain enzymes that help with digestion, and cooking destroys these enzymes. Leaving the enzymes alone by eating the food raw helps support a faster metabolism, which results in losing weight fast and keeping it off. In addition, raw foods have a higher nutrient content than cooked foods, and they are also free of preservatives and additives that can make food unhealthy for us.
Another piece of the raw food weight loss program has to do with acidity. Your body contains a number of different fatty acids, which can affect your weight. Most of the foods in the raw diet are alkaline, and thus reduce that acid. Foods that are part of the raw diet include all sorts of uncooked vegetables and fruits, raw fish such as sushi, nuts and seeds, unprocessed cheeses. If those are kinds of foods that are regularly part of your diet, you may want to considering going raw and seeing if it benefits you.

“When you are green inside, you are clean inside”, holds a lot of truth. This missing element in many people’s lives would cause all vegetation to die, and subsequently, all animals and man. Without chlorophyll, plants would not be able to take nutrition from the sun, because the process of photosynthesis would not go on. In this article I will explain the benefits of chlorophyll, and why raw foods are the best source for this nutrient. But first, let me review, for those having trouble remembering what chlorophyll is.
Chlorophyll is the green pigment found in plants, that enables them to take nutrition from the air, sun, and water, and make them “living”, raw foods. This green pigment covers up any carotene pigment in the plant. Chlorophyll is more than just a pigment, obviously, but the pigments tell-tale green color is a great indication if what we are going to eat, or juice, has this most essential element.
Many studies have been done on chlorophyll’s benefits. It is fascinating to me that the chlorophyll pigment, is almost identical to our blood pigments! The biggest difference is that the chlorophyll pigments center atom is magnesium, while our bloods center atom is iron. Think of it! The element that causes plants to be able to convert light into energy, is almost identical to our blood pigment. Thus the nickname: “green blood”. It is no wonder that chlorophyll has been shown to work wonders for our blood! With undiseased blood, most diseases are impossible.
It stands to reason that since chlorophyll is a natural deodorant, that animals that eat grass should have sweet breath. It is implied here that they don’t, but being the city girl that I am, I will just have to take others’ word for this. However, there was a study done by a veterinarian, Dr. Maurice E. Serling. He gave his canine patients in his veterinary hospital doses of chlorophyll, and banished all halitosis and body odor after six hours! When the tablets were discontinued, the odors resumed, and when they were started again, the odors left again!
There are many benefits of chlorophyll, really too many to list in detail in this article, since it has been used to fight many different diseases, but I hope to give you a basic understanding of a few of its benefits. They are: purification of the blood, liver, constipation and gas corrector, emphysema, abcesses of the liver and kidney, kidney stones, and it has also been shown to be an excellent topical for infections and burns! Chlorophyll contains properties that break down carbon dioxide, and release oxygen, which kills bacteria. It has even been used in deep surgical wounds! Its absence of toxicity, and promotion of repair tissue/skin, and soothing qualities makes it a miracle antiseptic, and it is my belief that if it could be patented, it would be, along with the air we breathe. (Thank goodness that’s not so!)
The raw foods that contain chlorophyll are: green leafy vegetables of all kinds, green olives, romaine lettuce, sea vegetables, broccoli, green peas, leeks, bell peppers, wheatgrass juice, and barleygreen (juice). The best salad green for chlorophyll is spinach. It has been shown that cooking changes the chlorophyll, but the results are inconclusive to how it affects us. It results in the magnesium atom in the center, though, being replaced with hydrogen; and chlorophyll being absent after 20 minutes of boiling. Even though green vegetables are full of chlorophyll, many who are really sick do not absorb this chlorophyll due to the sad shape their colon is in; so the raw foods should be juiced, since the lack of fiber in the juice causes the chlorophyll to be absorbed in a matter of minutes!
Ann Wigmore has an unforgettable personal testimony of how she overcame gangrene in her leg. She was told she had to have her leg amputated, or she would die. She absolutely refused, even though her parents, and the Doctor were angry with her. She was basically left alone, and describes hours of solitude outside; since she couldn’t get around very easily, she ate grass! She believes the wheatgrass juice cured her, thus her entrance into that industry. The Bible does say that the herbs are for the healing of the nations, and given Ann Wigmore’s testimony, and scores of others, I think that it is safe to say that the chlorophyll in these herbs is definitely a factor!
In conclusion, raw foods remain the best way to consume chlorophyll, with juicing your vegetables or drinking wheatgrass or barleygreen being the best. It is possible to lightly steam vegetables, and still get some chlorophyll, but it is not ideal, because of the changed atom structure, and the unknown consequences of doing so.

Raw food restaurants are being seen in more and more locales all across the United States and other countries as well, and as a result vegetarians are very happy to have more choices. This increase in restaurants that feature raw foods is just a part of the living food movement that is flourishing and which is bringing some new ideas in taste, color and texture to American restaurant goers.
Those who live the raw vegetarian or raw vegan lifestyle are quite familiar with the tastes and textures of a raw food diet, yet most average folks are uninitiated to this aspect until they encounter a raw food restaurant and sit down to partake in eating this type of food. This trend started just a few years ago and is catching on and growing significantly.
While some people might immediately think of small, homey, hole-in-the-wall joints when they first hear someone mention raw food restaurants, that is no longer an accurate description of many of these eateries. Instead, with the raw food movement finding favor with people from all walks of life and attracting celebrity enthusiasts, you are just as likely to find the raw food restaurant nearest you to be an upscale, trendy eatery offering the haute cuisine of living foods.
Even many famous and well-known traditional chefs are seeking out the gourmet offerings at their local raw food restaurant in order to learn about the living raw cuisine. As they observe the chef and sneak some peeks at a recipe or two, these classic chefs are discovering a whole new way of presenting and preparing raw food in ways that offer a surprising array of diverse, visually pleasing and delightful taste sensations.
More and more often, these restaurants that offer raw foods are sprouting up and enjoying increased visibility in strip malls, in upscale neighborhoods, in renovated houses in up and coming areas, along major thoroughfares, and even in prime stand-alone locations. In fact, in many instances from the exterior, a raw food restaurant may appear to be just another inviting cafe or diner that is designed to make people feel warm and welcomed.
Since raw food recipes are prepared and created without using the conventional cooking methods common to traditional restaurants, you will discover that the kitchens are quite different in appearance and function. You won’t find an oven or stove top in sight, or a bank of microwave ovens. In fact, you won’t even find something as simple and mundane as a can opener.
What you will find in the kitchens are various appliances such as food processors, various types of juicers, high-powered blenders and dehydration units. This is all that is needed for raw food cooking and preparing a menu filled with living food meals.
People who engage in the living raw lifestyle primarily eat fresh fruits and uncooked vegetables, as well as nuts, seeds, grains, legumes and sprouts. Many say they feel better, more energetic and enjoy better health overall by following a raw food diet and some even report that illness and disease has been reversed. Since all of these benefits are avidly being sought out by many, including the baby boomer generation, it is likely that more raw food restaurants will be seen in greater numbers.
